VDOT has been widely recognized as a leader in the development and successful implementation of new technologies, techniques and materials for use in new and existing bridges. These technologies have been used to make our bridges more durable, safer, and less expensive to build. Adam will share information about some of VDOT’s recent and forthcoming innovations. The discussion will address the promise and potential presented by these technologies as well as some of their impediments to implementation.
Presenter: Adam Matteo, PE
As Assistant State Structure and Bridge Engineer for Bridge Maintenance Mr. Matteo is responsible for establishing policy for the maintenance of over 19,000 of Virginia’s highway bridges and large culverts. He has 30 years of engineering experience in structural design, bridge maintenance and construction management. Adam received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1984 and his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993. He is currently licensed in both Virginia and California.
