Presentation Topic: City of Richmond’s Vision Zero Program
Abstract: The City of Richmond has committed to the Vision Zero approach to end traffic deaths and serious injuries on City streets by 2030, while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable access for all. Emily will present on the City’s approach to prioritize pedestrian safety, construct quick-build bike infrastructure, and ensure the safety of all travelers. The presentation will highlight innovative and systemic safety measures, as well as the use of language and messaging and how critical it is to work collectively to shift our safety culture within the City of Richmond and the surrounding region.
Speaker Bio: Emily Dalphy is a Traffic Operations Engineer for the City of Richmond’s Public Works department, focused on Vision Zero and bicycle and pedestrian projects. She is a graduate of Purdue University and has over 13 years of experience in transportation engineering, planning, and safety. Emily started her career working for a small consulting firm in Washington, DC and prior to moving to Richmond, worked at the District Department of Transportation.
