This will be a hybrid-style meeting (virtual and in-person). This month the speaker will be in-person. Virtual attendees will still be able to interact with the speaker through the chat window to ask questions.
Abstract: Full-Depth Reclamation (FDR) with Portland Cement is a proven, economical technology for restoring and improving the structural capacity of existing pavement. FDR consists of pulverizing the existing bound flexible pavement layers along with a portion of the unbound layers (or all the unbound layers and a portion of the subgrade); adding a stabilizing agent; compacting the mixture; and surfacing with a new bound material layer(s) or surface treatment. By addressing the entire pavement section, full depth reclamation is able to correct delinquent cross sections, increase the load-bearing strength of the base, and utilize 100% of the existing materials.
Paver-laid FDR (some are calling it SFDR-Stabilized Full Depth Reclamation) is an innovative adaptation of the traditional FDR process utilizing a more robust reclaimer and streamlining the production process.
This session will cover:
- A review of Traditional FDR compared with Paver-laid FDR.
- New Field’s Innovative approach to Paver-laid FDR.
- The benefits of FDR with Portland Cement
- The future of Paver-laid FDR in Virginia and the Carolinas
